High-Level Discussion on Tribal Development Schemes Held at Kartavya Bhawan


A high-level meeting focusing on key tribal development initiatives was recently held at Kartavya Bhawan, where an interaction took place with Manish Thakur, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Raja Dodum, Nodal Officer, National Rural Health Mission, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and Th. Vipuni Rhumai, Secretary, ST Morcha, BJP Delhi State.

During the discussion, detailed deliberations were held on several ongoing schemes being implemented by the Ministry for the welfare and upliftment of tribal communities. Key focus areas included the Special Central Assistance (SCA) to Tribal Sub-Scheme (TSS), Grants under Article 275(1) of the Constitution, and marketing support for tribal products through TRIFED.

The meeting also reviewed initiatives aimed at the development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), grants to Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs), and financial support to voluntary organizations working for Scheduled Tribe welfare.

Under Skill Development and Digital Initiatives, progress of programmes such as GOAL (Going Online As Leaders), Adi Prashikshan (capacity building), Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan (leadership and governance), and Adi Vaani (AI-based tribal language tool) was discussed in detail.

Furthermore, Cultural and Social Development Schemes—including support for tribal festivals, promotion of art and culture, research and documentation programmes, and preservation of tribal languages and heritage—were also highlighted.

The participants emphasized the need for effective implementation, stronger grassroots outreach, and enhanced community participation to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the intended beneficiaries efficiently.
